The Bear: Built on a Land Rover Discovery, that may not be as awesome as our much loved Defenders – but still an awesome 4WD to show you parts of this amazing country you won’t see in and ordinary camper van.
Sleeps: Two in a fold out expedition roof tent, with two sleeping bags, pillows and towels
Seats: Two – Five depending on build variation (please notify us at the time of booking the total number travelling). Variations can be requested but can’t be guaranteed.
Living: Side awning, 2 x chairs and a table, 12 volt dual battery system.
Kitchen: Two burner stove & 45L fridge with all the utensils and crockery you need for a tasty campfire meal. Fresh water storage with collapsible sink.
All the bits included: CD Player with Radio &USB jack – Roadside breakdown assistance – Power steering & ABS.
The Black is for those of you with a penchant for adventure; it’s for those travellers who want to go places that you can’t get to in a Toyota Tarago! The Black will show you Australia – not just the highway. Return home with stories of places that you mates couldn’t get to with a little white van.
It has everything you need for two people to hit the road less travelled – base prices are on the next tab – but we know that travellers are always looking for a good deal – so get in touch and let us know your budget and we will see what we can do!

One way adventures are allowed and best of all; there are no one-way fee’s between most of our depots (If you are flexible on your itinerary let us know – sometimes it’s cheaper to travel the other way).

Minimum driving age:21 with full unrestricted license.
Kilometre allowance: Unlimited (subject to length of hire – sorry you can’t do Sydney to Cairns in 3 days).
Where you can go: Can be used off road but only on recognised tracks and trails as marked on Hema maps (not sure what this means please ask). Below are the off road tracks (Defined outback area’s) that require our permission to drive on and may be restricted at certain times of the year, so please let us know your planned itinerary if you have any doubts.
Defined Outback Areas: Simpson Desert (recognised tracks and trails only), Strzelecki Track, Gunbarrel Highway, Cape York (recognised tracks and trails only), the Bungle Bungles, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Tanami Track, the Plenty Highway, Gibb River Road, Burke Development Road from Chillagoe to Normanton, Savannah Way from Normanton to Borroloola, Finke Road (between Alice Springs and Oodnadatta), Central Arnhem Road and Arnhem Land in general.
Prohibited areas: Any Beach Driving this includes Fraser Island, The Canning Stock Route, the Old Gunbarrel Hwy, the Lost City in Litchfield National Park, the Telegraph section of the road to Cape York, Boggy Hole (Finke Gorge National Park) and the Old South Road from Maryvale to Finke at any time. Travel to Cape York between the months of December to May.
